It was built as part of a commemorative project for Emperor Showa's Golden Jubilee.
🚆How to go?
Nishi-Tachikawa Station on the JR Ome Line (one station from Tachikawa Station) is directly connected to the Nishi-Tachikawa Exit of the park. The park's Akebonoguchi is a 10-minute walk from Tachikawa Station on the JR Chuo Line and Nambu Line, and an 8-minute walk from Tachikawa-Kita Station on the Tama City Monorail.
There are two ways to visit this park, the first is on foot and the other is by bicycle. The park has multiple entrances and Bicycles can be rented from each entrance. There is so much to see here that it takes a whole day to get around.
The park is never gone quite empty in any season, but especially popular during the spring and autumn when crowds flock to the park to see rows of pink cherry blossoms as well as red or blue tulips or enjoy the yellow carpet under the ginkgo trees. Events continue throughout the year, such as the Spring Festival or the Winter Illumination Festival. Lots of people spend their weekend family time relaxing together on the lush green lawns in the park.
Various flowers are planted throughout the spring. It is one of the famous Sakura viewing spots in Tokyo. At the same time, Nanohana and tulip flowers are blooming. In a short time, the vast field was filled with red cosmos flowers. Then, as summer approaches, dahlias and sunflowers bloom all around and the trees start to change color as soon as the autumn falls. All the leaves of the ginkgo tree turn yellow and the Momiji red.
